No matter if you’re 25 or 85, you still have the opportunity to learn more about yourself. Take a moment to listen to your inner voice and discover what makes you genuinely happy. Joy Mangano, author of INVENTING JOY, shares important lessons to remember as you start the new year.
Our paths through life will always change, whether we want them to or not. And you know what? That’s not a bad thing, it’s a great thing.
I believe life is a series of amazing discoveries about ourselves, and the only way we can make those discoveries is by staying open to new paths and new adventures.
I call it shifting our skis. When I was younger, I skied down mountains at 50 mph. I didn’t have the luxury of seeing the whole path down the mountain. I just had to get started and see where the mountain took me. And when I saw a tree blocking my path, I shifted my skis and set out on a new path.
That applies to my life, too. When new paths presented themselves, I was never afraid to take them. I’ve tried to always be ready to shift my skis. And it’s served me well.
Be careful. Don’t listen to the inner voice that chose your path twenty years ago. Listen to the voice that is talking to you right now. In business, and in life, we need to stay ready to explore new paths with as much courage as we can muster.
And when we do, we will discover amazing new things about ourselves, and about how strong and capable and courageous and powerful we can be.
Start off the New Year by eating right.
