It’s easy to settle. It’s easy to become complacent. It’s easy to elect the path of least resistance and pursue a life of placidity—because, unfortunately, that’s just human nature. But as high-functioning members of society, with intelligence and self-awareness, it is not our purpose to merely survive. We owe to it to ourselves, and no one else, to take steps to use our life. To grow. To help others. To enjoy the ride, for all it’s bumps and bruises. Our author, Kyle Cease, breaks down the role we play in life and how to make the most of our brief time through control.
The biggest reason that we stress is because we are trying to control the things that we can’t and aren’t controlling what we can. There are so many things that we can’t directly control. We can’t control what a football team just did. We can’t control our past. We can’t control what other people think about us. However, we love to grab on to these situations and argue with them because we can’t do anything about it.
We can control our decisions and our intention. We can control who and what we surround ourselves with. But the biggest thing we can control is . . . whether or not we accept this moment fully. This moment that you are in right now, do you accept it completely? Do you accept all of your emotions? Do you accept all of your past and future? Do you accept what they said about you? Do you accept that things might have been working against your expectations? Do you? If you do, you will move forward into a place within yourself that will allow you to start cocreating with life in a magical way, and the new world that you want to live in will start to show up around you.
There are millions of opportunities available to you that could match the freedom that you actually are. There are innovative careers, loving relationships, healthy foods, and expansive habits that are completely available to you right now, in this moment. You have the opportunity in this actual second to step into more freedom. The question is, will you take it?
Once you’ve take life by the horns, take steps to become more happy by learning how to define it and achieve it.
