Many fairytales are known for the moral lessons that they teach both children and adults. From telling you to follow your heart to not taking apples from strangers, our favorite folk tales often have lots of hidden meanings behind them. Lewis Carroll, the author of WHAT WOULD ALICE DO?, gives you life lessons from Alice in Wonderland.
Speak up for yourself….
“No, no!” said the Queen. “Sentence first-verdict afterwards.”
“Stuff and nonsense!” said Alice loudly. “The idea of having the sentence first!”
“Hold your tongue!” said the Queen, turning purple.
“I wo’n’t!” said Alice.
Aim for the top….
“I don’t want to be anybody’s prisoner. I want to be a Queen.”
Be the heroine of your own story….
“There ought to be a book written about me, that there ought! And when I grow up, I’ll write one…”
Always speak clearly….
“Don’t grunt,” said Alice; “that’s not at all a proper way of expressing yourself.”
Live your dreams….
“When I used to read fairy-tales, I fancied that kind of thing never happened, and now here I am in the middle of one!”
Believe anything is possible….
“Oh, how I wish I could shut up like a telescope! I think I could, if I only knew how to begin.” For, you see, so many out-of-the-way things had happened lately, that Alice had begun to think that very few things indeed were really impossible.
Keep your sense of humour….
“I wonder if I shall fall right through the earth! How funny it’ll seem to come out among the people that walk with their heads downwards!”
Don’t look for hidden meanings….
“If there’s no meaning in it,” said the King, “that saves a world of trouble, you know, as we needn’t try to find any.”
Always read the label….
…she had never forgotten that, if you drink much from a bottle marked “poison,” it is almost certain to disagree with you, sooner or later.
Always follow the recipe….
“There’s certainly too much pepper in that soup!” Alice said to herself, as well as she could for sneezing.
