Anti-Inflammatory Drinks: Avocado-Lada Smoothie Recipe

Anti-inflammatory drinks can be extremely beneficial to your health! It helps lessen your chances of heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer! Maryea Flaherty, author of ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRINKS FOR HEALTH, shares her Avocado-Lada Smoothie Recipe. 

Ingredients (serves 1):

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 ⁄2 medium avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 2 cups baby spinach
  • 3 tablespoons flaxseeds
  • 1 1/2 cups cold water

Steps:

  1. Place all ingredients in a large blender.
  2. Blend the ingredients on high until thoroughly combined and smooth.
  3. Consume immediately.

KEY INGREDIENT: Avocado What could be better than enjoying the flavors of a piña colada in the health-promoting form of a smoothie? The avocado is one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. Avocados have a very low glycemic index and are a great source of pantothenic acid; fiber; copper; folate; and vitamins K, B6, E, and C. Their anti-inflammatory benefit comes from their fat content. They are a great source of omega-9 fatty acids (heart-healthy monounsaturated fats), which have been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and decrease inflammation.

Spinach, pineapple, and flaxseeds are also working in your favor with their anti-inflammatory compounds. This smoothie is excellent with plain water, or you could add a little extra natural sweetness with hydrating coconut water.
