When someone who’s known for their haunting horror films turns to novel-writing, the results are often just as disturbing, visceral, and unforgettable. In his first novel Consumed, David Cronenberg, who’s written and directed such classics of the genre as Scanners, Dead Ringers, and They Came From Within, spins a mesmerizing tale of murder, obsession, and dark conspiracy, all informed by the knowledge that the human body can be the scariest thing of all.
The fertile, vivid imaginations of horror directors like Wes Craven, Tobe Hooper, Guillermo Del Toro, and Tim Burton have also naturally lent themselves to novels, poetry or comics. Fans of their work will recognize each auteur’s signature take on their sinister subjects.
