Sex helps you live longer. One of the reasons that sex feels so good is because of the chemicals released during intercourse. These include dehydroepiandrosterone (DHeA), a building block of testosterone, a sex hormone, which helps to repair and heal tissue. Another is human growth hormone, which helps your body stay youthful.
Sex boosts your immunity. Studies conducted at Wilkes University in Pennsylvania indicated that having intercourse one or two times a week raises the level of an antibody called immunoglobin A (igA) by as much as one-third. igA helps fortify your immune system because it binds itself to germs that enter the body.
Sex helps prevent prostate cancer. Yes, gentlemen, you read that correctly. Studies show that men who have frequent ejaculations in their 20s can have a significantly lower risk of prostate cancer as they age. Your 20s have come and gone? It’s not too late for sex to help you. Another survey by the national Cancer institute demonstrated that middle-aged men who average 21 ejaculations a month have a 33 percent lower risk for prostate cancer, compared to those with only four to seven ejaculations.
Sex is a painkiller. Pain of any variety puts a damper on living 100 quality years. But here comes sex to the rescue! Sex works as an analgesic in your body (much like aspirin or acetaminophen). During orgasm, the brain opens the floodgates of the hormone oxytocin, which acts as a natural painkiller. So before you head to the medicine cabinet, consider engaging in sex with your partner to treat pain from arthritis, migraines, or just simple achiness.
Sex makes you happy. Remember what i said about sexual intercourse releasing the hormone DHeA? Well, that hormone acts as a mood enhancer or natural antidepressant. In other words, sexually released DHeA is an “upper,” especially for women.
Sex protects heart health. In research that was aimed at identifying sex as a risk factor for heart attack in older patients, just the opposite proved true! This English study followed men for 20 years and found that not only was there no increased risk for strokes in elderly couples who engage in sex, but that if they had sex at least twice a week, they’d cut their risk of having a fatal heart attack in half.
Why was this? Easy. Sex increases circulation, reduces blood pressure, and has overwhelming benefits for the heart. So next time you want to do something good for your heart (emotionally and physically), jump into the sack with your partner!
