Author Ron Clark’s Joining Survivor!

We have exciting news for you: The 38th season of Survivor: Edge of Extinction is premiering tonight on CBS at 8PM! And one of Tips on Life & Love’s very own featured authors, Ron Clark, is joining the cast! The writer behind the best-selling books MOVE YOUR BUS and THE END OF MOLASSES CLASSES will be one of 18 players competing for the million-dollar prize in the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji this season. Edge of Extinction will also be bringing back fan favorites Kelley Wentworth, David Wright, Aubrey Bracco, and Joe Anglim (for those die-hard series viewers).

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Ron Clark, he is the cofounder of the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, a nonprofit middle school whose mission is to educate children through creative and innovative exercises and strategies. Clark is a teacher who’s been named “American Teacher of the Year” by Disney! TNT also created a movie called The Ron Clark Story, starring Matthew Perry, about the story behind Clark’s success.

His Simon & Schuster book THE END OF MOLASSES CLASSES teaches parents and educators on how to motivate children to succeed in school through various tips and advice he offers, while MOVE YOUR BUS focuses on how to become an effective and influential leader through the use of teamwork. You can go to Clark’s cast bio for more info on his background and what his mindset going into Survivor is.

Here’s some more background on the game this season, so you know what Clark will be going through: This season has a new, fun twist that will include a second chance for players who have been voted off. “Extinction Island” will be the voted-off players’ chance at redemption and an opportunity to reenter the game. However, this new island will have even fewer supplies, food, and amenities up for grabs.

Those who wish to endure “Extinction Island” will be given various opportunities to return to the game, but they can leave at any time and go home if they can’t handle the tough mental and physical conditions of the area. Will Clark be able to handle this challenging season to come out on top?

We can’t wait to watch to find out! Here’s the trailer to see a quick preview of what you should expect:
