How to avoid false starts, wrong turns, and showing up unprepared. From How to Rule the World From Your Couch by bestselling author Laura Day.
Using Precognition in Your Daily Life
Often in daily life you will simply want to know in general what is coming up for you. To begin the process of daily precognition, simply follow the feeling that stands out for you in that moment or day. Notice when your attention drifts and notice where it drifts.
For example, you wake up feeling happy for no particular reason. You follow this vague happiness and then have a sense that you will meet someone who will be special in your life. You make a mental note to wear something nice.
Or maybe all the details of a business deal look great, yet every time you think about it something annoys you. Instead of avoiding the issue of what may be wrong with the deal, you begin to ask yourself what more you should investigate before you close. Perhaps you get a sense that someone is being dishonest with you. When you become intuitively aware, great deals aside, you become alerted to other areas of contention that you will be able to confirm with facts down the line. It helps you review the deal in all of its details, eyes open and focused forward.
In your day-to-day practice, you can also just allow your attention, all of your senses, to wander around your life, forward into time. How do you do that? Start with the basics: practice, document, and verify. But how do you instruct your senses to look forward? Well, ask yourself, put your attention on the question of what is coming up for you, and notice where your attention is drawn.
As always with intuition, allow your senses to lead you even if you find yourself jumping around to unrelated ideas or not understanding the information you receive. Your intuition will follow its own tail to the head, and if you go with it you will find that you end up with a complete circle of information that is not only accurate, but also very much actionable.
