Classic Kentucky Derby Recipe Ideas

2 Comments 04 May 2012

Classic mint julep recipe for Kentucky Derby party menu from the book Just Married and CookingThe 138th Annual Kentucky Derby is almost here, and even if you’re not the betting type, it’s a great excuse to snack on Southern comfort foods (our all-time faves are pimento cheese sandwiches and hot browns, oh my!). Try these special Derby Day recipes—including classic Derby Pie, chocolate bourbon truffles, beer cheese, and of course, a refreshing mint julep to wash it all down.

Also, we’re going out on a limb and saying “I’ll have another!” For the winning horse, that is.

These recipes will make for a most memorable Run for the Roses:
The Perfect Mint Julep (Just Married and Cooking)

Kentucky Derby Pie (Passionate Penny Pincher)

Kentucky Hot Brown (The Saucy Southerner)

Pimento Cheese Dip and Sandwiches (Capers Catering)

Miss Hurley’s Kentucky Beer Cheese (Garden and Gun)

Bourbon-Cured Trout (Just Married and Cooking)

Chocolate Bourbon Truffles (Just Married and Cooking)
